Daddy Freeze, who is based in Lagos Island, had stated that the latest victims of the perennial Lagos flooding in Lagos Mainland area had been mocking the Islanders whenever they were hit by floods, saying the table has now turned against them.

In the post, Daddy Freeze wrote in Pidgin English: “Mainland too is flooded…. Shebi dem dey laugh us for island, now na their turn🤣🤣🤣🤣.”

Recall that flooding, which began after heavy rainfall from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, has submerged major roads and communities in Lagos and neighbouring Ogun States. Key roads in Lagos, including Oworonshoki, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikeja, Alapere, Iyana-Oworo, Oshodi, Ile-epo, Abattoir, and Victoria Island, were significantly affected, causing severe traffic gridlocks across the nation’s commercial nerve centre.

A lot of flood was also recorded in Epe, Eredo, Bogije, Labora, Abijon, Sangotedo, Awoyaya, and Ibeju-Lekki.

In Ogun State, which is right next door, places like Sango, Ota, Alagbado, Atan, Oju-ore, and Lusada were also flooded.

Tokunbo Wahab, the commissioner for environment and water resources for Lagos State, said that the flooding was caused by heavy, long-lasting rain and high water levels in the lagoon. Wahab told everyone that the problem would only last for a short time and would go away in one to two hours.

He told them that as the tide goes down, rainwater will flow into the Lagoon and help with the floods.
