Nigeria customs seizes weapons, narcotics, ammunition in major operation

The Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service recently conducted an operation that seized considerable amounts of armament and ammunition, military camouflage, illegal narcotics like Colorado, pump-action firearms, and automatic single-barrel rifles.
The seizure occurred during routine checks of inbound goods, while details about the events remain unknown. It is unclear whether any arrests were made in connection with the event.
This interception comes after a similar incident in which customs authorities recovered 31 various types of guns at Lagos’ Tin-Can and Multi-Purpose Terminals (PTML).
Two people were already arrested in connection with an earlier seizure.
In addition to the weapons, the Nigeria Customs Service’s Zone A Federal Operations Unit uncovered foreign parboiled rice concealed in petroleum jerry cans in Ajilete, Ogun State.
The unit’s anti-smuggling activities also resulted in the interception of 93 seizures worth N751,127,025, with nine people detained.
These seizures comprised a wide range of items, including white beans, onions, exotic used autos, and premium motor spirit.
