Barely a month after a similar incident, a cult clash in Essi Layout, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, has left a man dead.

The lifeless body of the yet-to-be-identified young man has been recovered from a pathway in the Warri locality.

The victim was reportedly found dead on Saturday, in a pool of blood with machete cuts on his forehead and arms.

There are suspicions that the victim was killed overnight as several gunshots had rented the air in the vicinity the previous night in a likely cult supremacy battle.

A cult clash between the Vikings and Eiye confraternities in the same Iyara-Essi Layout had left one person dead last year December.

However, it can not yet be ascertained if the current clash is a spillover of last year’s cult violence.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident saying “It was a cult clash”.
