CSOs investigates killing of Kano pregnant woman
The Kano Civil Society Forum has established a seven-man committee to investigate the death of a pregnant woman at Abdullahi Wase Hospital in Kano.
The woman, Shema’u Labaran, died along with her nine-month pregnancy due to alleged negligence by medical personnel at the hospital. According to reports, she was left unattended for over eight hours in pain because her husband was unable to pay for her medical bills in the new naira notes.
The President of the Kano Civil Society Forum, Amb. Ibrahim Waiya, said calls to probe the death were too enormous to ignore. The seven-man committee will investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the late Hajiya Labaran and submit a report in three weeks.
The death of Shema’u Labaran at Abdullahi Wase Hospital has drawn the attention of the Kano Civil Society Forum. The incident has generated numerous complaints and calls from different quarters and responsible citizens within and outside Kano. The Kano Civil Society Forum has taken action by setting up a seven-man committee to investigate the alleged negligence of the medical personnel at the hospital.
The committee will advise on the appropriate steps to take to prevent such occurrences in the future.
