Cristiano Ronaldo will be a bigger flop than Lukaku

Cristiano Ronaldo will be a bigger flop than Romelu Lukaku, former Chelsea player, Pat Nevin thinks as he expresses his opinion on the Portugal captain leaving Old Trafford.

In his claims, the former winger alluded to Romelu Lukaku’s failed Chelsea stint that earned the player lots of criticisms, remarking that Cristiano Ronaldo will face such should he leave United for Chelsea.

Lukaku like Ronaldo made a sensational return to Stamford Bridge last season but in his case on a bigger fee of £97.5m which was then a club record only to end up being loaned out back to the club that sold him to Chelsea in the first place.

The Belgian saw the back of the net just eight times in the Premier League, with a particularly league game seeing the Inter Milan player make just few touches in the whole of 90 minutes for a striker.

With Chelsea linked with Ronaldo, in his desperate move for Champions League football, Pat Nevin is against his former club signing the Portuguese.

“I think Ronaldo would be even more of a poor fit than Lukaku was for Chelsea,” Nevin told BonusCodeBets.

“When Lukaku signed last season, people thought he would be the missing link but I thought by signing him, Thomas Tuchel was throwing his style of play out the window if indeed it was Thomas who signed him! It didn’t make sense to me.

“While Ronaldo scores a lot of goals, of the ball you are almost playing with ten men which you cannot do in the Premier League and be competitive.

“Some Chelsea fans may love it, but there have been some cases over the years around Chelsea which have made them look like a circus.”

Although the former Chelsea player has his opinions and beliefs but using Romelu Lukaku’s failed stint with Chelsea as a yardstick that Cristiano Ronaldo will end up a flop is quite the hasty comment.
