Court remands man who stabbed friend to death over woman in Ondo

A man, identified as Money Danlandi has been charged to court for allegedly killing his friend over a woman in Ondo State.

Money Danlandi, a farm laborer, has been remanded in custody by an Ondo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Akure for allegedly stabbing his friend, Sunday Babaji, to death over an argument over a lady.

Danlandi was accused of committing the crime in Badokun Camp via Ode-Aye in the State’s Okitipupa Local Government Area, and was charged with one count of murder in court.

Inspector Nelson Akintimehin, the prosecution, informed the court that Danlandi committed the crime on May 9, 2022, around 9 p.m.

TopNaija understands that the deceased, aged 25 was allegedly stabbed in the chest with a knife, resulting in his death.

The prosecution asserts that the offense breaches Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 2, Laws of Ondo State, 2016.

Danlandi, who appeared in court without representation, pled not guilty to the charge, but the court would not accept his plea.

Akintimehin asked the court to put the defendant in the state’s correctional center, pending the Director of Public Prosecutions’ advice.

Mr. Musa Al-Yunus, the magistrate, remanded the defendant at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Olokuta, Akure, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, and then adjourned the matter to August 25 for mention.
