Court releases date to begin hearing of Peter Obi’s petition against Tinubu
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has set a date for hearing petitions disputing the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Bola Tinubu as president-elect.
Topnaija reports that the legal battle is set to begin on May 8, 2023.
The APC’s National Legal Adviser, Ahmad El-Marzuq, has stated that the party’s legal team is prepared to defend the party’s mandate.

He has also noted that the petitions do not need to be concluded before President Buhari leaves office on May 29, and the president-elect should not be left unsworn in a vacuum.
An anonymous top official from the election petitions tribunal has confirmed that the hearing will commence on May 8th.
Meanwhile, a member of Tinubu’s legal team, Tayo Oyetibo SAN, has explained that the hearing is for a pre-hearing session.
The session aims to clarify if there are any applications before the main hearing will commence.
