Court fixes date for judgement on Twitter ban in Nigeria

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Court of Justice has fixed May 10, 2022, for judgment on the Twitter ban in Nigeria.
Social Economic and Rights Accountability Project (SERAP) made this known in a tweet on Wednesday.
The tweet said: “BREAKING: The ECOWAS Court has again adjourned the Twitter ban suit to 10 May 2022 for judgment.”
On June 4, 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari announced the indefinite suspension of Twitter’s operation in Nigeria.
Twitter had deleted a tweet by President Muhammadu Buhari where he threatened to punish those responsible for attacks on government facilities in the South East.
According to Twitter, the tweet violated its “abusive behavior” policy.
SERAP filed a lawsuit against President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration over what it called, “the unlawful suspension of Twitter in Nigeria, criminalization of Nigerians and other people using Twitter.
However, it was reported by TopNaija.ng that, after seven months (222 days), Nigeria’s Twitter ban was finally lifted.
