Nigerian politician and Labor Party presidential aspirant, Peter Obi is garnering quite the movement, especially with the campaign slogan dubbed ‘OBIDIENT’.
It is a pun on his last name, asking for his followers or the electorate to follow and obey the voting patterns that would express what they wish for the country.
For the famed Nigerian novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, she subscribes to this very notion as she shared on her verified Facebook handle.
The literary icon celebrated the politician on his 61st birthday, remarking on the personality the politician has exhibited and his political journey.
She also used her platform to act as a pseudo campaign for the former Anambra State Governor as he clocked 61.
It was a lengthy Eulogy from the award winning writer and author on her social media platform, which of course would go a long way to further increase the politician’s popularity judging by how influential the woman is.
The author described Peter Obi’s benevolent demeanor and the respect and kindness he showed her deceased parents as well as always been around in crucial moments for her.
Well, of course, Nigeria could use some of those traits as described by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie judging by how Nigeria is in a crucial moment.
She ended with describing the politician as her ‘President’, which is safe to say she is ‘OBIDIENT’.
Her post reads:
“Happy Birthday to Peter Obi, my dearest Big Bro:
“I will never forget your kindness to my beloved parents. Thank you for the respect you showed them, for your many visits to Abba, where you gave to Daddy and Mummy the most precious gifts: your time and your attention.
“Thank you for walking this still-unbearable journey of grief with my siblings and me.
“I remember how you regaled Daddy and Mummy with your stories until we started joking about your obsession with the “GDP of Malaysia.” But your obsession spoke of hope: your hope for Nigeria, your belief in what Nigeria could be. A belief that has always been practical, grounded in numbers and in reality.
“I remember when you came to support me as I was being honored by the United Nations Foundation in New York, and I teased you about the inexpensive hotel you were staying in, and you shrugged and said, “it’s just a place to sleep, why do I need to be in an expensive place?”
“And then only days later, you once again exhibited your incredible generosity to the causes you believe in, and it reminded me of all the hospitals and schools and churches you have supported over the years, and often without fanfare. You have always been clear about what your priorities are, what matters to you, what you believe should matter, and that is deeply admirable.”
Well, Nigerians should know her stance now on being part of the Obidient movement with this.
