Chelsea’s Misfortune Grows With Thiago Silva Injury Update

While Chelsea’s premier league rivals have built on quite the optimistic season, the West London side continues to fall deeper below its usual standard, and now the confirmation of Thiago Silva has sent chills down blue spines as the Brazilian is now confirmed to be out for 6 weeks.

This was confirmed by the club’s manager ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League second leg fixture against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, 1st of March.

Chelsea football club confirmed that the defender, Thiago Silva suffered a knee injury and will be out of action for nearly five to six weeks. The Brazilian centre-back was assessed and underwent a scan that confirmed damage to his knee ligaments.

The 38-year-old was substituted in the Chelsea’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday after falling awkwardly on his left leg.

Silva has been an essential part of Chelsea’s defense this season, making a lot of appearances in the side and being one of the club’s bright light this season despite the team’s poor form.

The news of Silva’s injury has come as a significant setback for Chelsea as they look to fight for a place in Europe next season as they climb up from 10th place.

Silva, who is now working hard to return to full fitness, is expected to continue his rehabilitation and return to action as soon as possible. However, the timeframe for his recovery has been estimated at nearly five to six weeks, which means he could miss some crucial matches for the Blues in the coming weeks.
