Chelsea will do better with Him—Former West Ham player says
Chelsea will do better with Allan Saint Maximin, former West Ham player, Frank McAvennie says on the prospect of the London club going for the Newcastle winger.
The clock seems to be ticking for Chelsea in the summer transfer season after Thomas Tuchel’s complaints about the squad.
With the club rumored to be going after the player in the summer transfer window, McAvennie in his analysis has urged the club to actively pursue for the player.
He theorizes that with Maximin and Sterling together on the wings, the club will score more goals through their pace and partnership.
He sees it as an excellent partnership that will be quite threatening in attack and with Thomas Tuchel’s side needed finishers, Chelsea will benefit from their pace and chance creation.
Speaking with Football Insider, McAvennie stated:
“I don’t think he will want to go. Chelsea is a huge club, Newcastle are not yet, but they are going to be.
“It’s whether or not he wants to stay and be part of that build.
“He’s the one player I would have kept because they were hopeless until Eddie Howe came in.
“For £40m, he’d be a good addition. Him and [Raheem] Sterling playing up front, that would be interesting. They would score lots of goals.”
The signing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City hasn’t brought Chelsea the promise they were looking for so far, specifically in pre-season, as the former Liverpool winger is yet to pick up form with his current club.
Perhaps Chelsea will need to pair him with a partner that can bring out the best in Raheem Sterling or the player needs to gel into the team before he could produce the flair to which Chelsea signed him for.
At this stage, it’s all speculations as the season is yet to begin.
