Chelsea to lower Mason Mount asking price
In a significant twist to the ongoing transfer saga, Chelsea Football Club has reportedly revised their asking price for midfielder Mason Mount, amid growing speculation surrounding the player’s future.
The adjustment comes following Mount’s refusal to commit to a new contract with the club, intensifying interest from rival Premier League side Manchester United.
Having seen their initial offers for Mount turned down by Chelsea, Manchester United are expected to return with an improved bid after the recent developments. The Red Devils’ first two bids were unable to meet Chelsea’s original valuation of £75 million, falling short by a considerable margin.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Mount has informed the management at Stamford Bridge about his firm stance against extending his current deal. With the English midfielder’s contract set to expire in 2024, this revelation raises the possibility of Mount signing a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs as early as January 1st.
In response to Mount’s refusal to commit his future to the club, Chelsea has reportedly adjusted their asking price to a figure closer to £60 million. This reduction may open the door for Manchester United to pursue the highly sought-after midfielder, as it falls within the upper limit of what the Red Devils are willing to pay.
However, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is also considering other midfield targets, and the club must remain mindful of their budget constraints. With an estimated budget of approximately £120 million, committing over half of it to securing a midfielder would be financially unviable for Manchester United.
As the negotiation process unfolds, both Chelsea and Manchester United are expected to engage in further discussions to bridge the gap between the revised asking price and the Red Devils’ valuation of Mount.
The transfer saga has gained considerable attention in recent weeks, as Mason Mount’s impressive performances for club and country have established him as one of the brightest talents in English football.
While the situation remains fluid, all eyes are now on Manchester United as they prepare to make an improved bid for Mason Mount, seeking to convince Chelsea to part ways with their prized midfielder. Football fans around the world eagerly await the outcome of this high-profile transfer pursuit that could potentially reshape the landscape of the Premier League.
