Chelsea, The Unsuspecting Casualty In A War By Brighton

The Premier League may have become too predictable over time, but for some reason, its teams like Brighton & Hove Albion that maintains its integrity by pulling off surprises when least expected.

It’s a surprise that can be mistaken for a war, considering this season, Brighton has taken out points from technically the Premier League’s top teams, starting with Manchester United, Liverpool and now Chelsea, with a shocking 4-1 win against the London Blues.

The Saturday afternoon fixture had a lot of history going for it; the Seagulls have never beaten Chelsea since 1933, specifically in a League game, and of course, it was the first time former Brighton manager was returning to the club after leaving for the Blues some weeks earlier.

Talk about the game being a war, Chelsea came into a war not knowing who its allies or foes were as two of its players within the game seemingly switched sides to gift the opponents 2 goals to doom the score line at 3-0 before half time.

Graham Potter, Chelsea’s new manager recognizing the danger that was at hand, returned his team for the second half of play taking out the team’s number 1, Kepa Arizabalaga for Mendy to ignite fear in his former club.

The tactics almost shook the Seagulls with Chelsea reducing the 3-0 deficit through a Kai Havertz strike, but Brighton under its new manager, Roberto De Zerbi knew they were not ready to lose a war Chelsea’s traitors had won them in the first half.

The Seagulls maintained its resilience till the 93rd minute before dashing any hopes Chelsea had for a comeback for a humiliating score line of 4-1; Graham Potter’s first defeat of the season.
