Chelsea Suffers Injury Blow Ahead of Premier League Return

With the world cup over, clubs are set to return to the reality they left behind prior to the commencement of the Qatar tournament, and with Chelsea having quite the mixed season, new report could complicate things further for the Blues as the premier league gears for a return.

Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, has suffered another physical setback as Wesley Fofana hobbled off during their friendly match on Tuesday, just days before the Premier League resumed.

In a friendly played behind closed doors, Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick as the Blues hammered Brentford 5-1.

However, Fofana hobbling off with a knee issue overshadowed the outcome.

Fofana, who left Leicester City for Chelsea in the summer for a fee of £70 million, hasn’t played since hurting his knee playing for Milan in October.

The defender stayed behind during the World Cup break to recover and increase his fitness level in preparation for the start of the Premier League on December 26.

Armando Broja tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a friendly match against Aston Villa earlier this month, ending his season and dealing a severe injury blow to Chelsea.

The first league matchup for Chelsea following the resumption will be on December 27 against Bournemouth at home.
