Chelsea secret agent scores 'Bizarre' own goal against Arsenal

In their ongoing quest for Premier League glory in the upcoming 23/24 season, Arsenal faced German Bundesliga 2 side FC Nurnberg in a pre-season friendly.

The match, held at the Max Morlock Stadion on Thursday evening, witnessed an entertaining encounter marred by an outrageous own goal from Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

Following a disappointing conclusion to the 22/23 campaign, the Gunners aimed to fine-tune their preparations and regain their winning momentum. They got off to a positive start as Bukayo Saka opened the scoring with an impressive goal after just seven minutes.

However, it was in the second half when Jorginho, who was playing for Arsenal in this friendly match, produced an astonishing moment that left fans bewildered.

The former Chelsea midfielder unintentionally netted an own goal from approximately 30 yards out, receiving a pass from Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Jacob Hein. The bizarre turn of events prompted quick reactions from fans and spectators alike.

One fan expressed astonishment, stating, “What on earth was that from Jorginho?” while another Twitter user humorously remarked, “Even though Jorginho was the Arsenal player who last touched the ball, I’m giving that own goal to Karl Hein.”

Criticizing the goalkeeping performance, a third supporter commented, “Keepers had a shocker.” Some fans took solace in the fact that the game held little significance, with one person writing, “Good job this game doesn’t matter.”

Another supporter eagerly anticipated the arrival of Declan Rice, suggesting, “Thank goodness Declan Rice is coming in so I don’t have to deal with Jorginho anymore.”

Adding to the excitement of the friendly match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta granted a debut to summer signing Kai Havertz, who recently joined the club from Chelsea in a reported £65 million deal. Havertz, a German international, came on as a substitute at the beginning of the second half, providing an opportunity for fans to catch a glimpse of the Gunners’ new acquisition.

Following the successful signing of Havertz, Arsenal is now on the verge of securing a double deal for West Ham United’s Declan Rice and Ajax’s Dutch defender Jurrien Timber.

Arteta hopes that these new additions will bolster the team and help propel them further in their pursuit of Premier League glory. The Gunners have been longing for their first league title since the historic 03/04 season under the leadership of Arsène Wenger.

As the pre-season progresses, Arsenal will continue their preparations and fine-tune their tactics in anticipation of their first Premier League match against Chelsea on August 13.

The fans remain optimistic that the team’s latest acquisitions, coupled with the existing squad’s talent, will provide a strong foundation for a successful campaign ahead.
