Chelsea player leaves Chelsea One Week after signing

A Chelsea player shortly before the transfer window shutdown made the decision to leave the club a week after signing for the Blues.

The player, Tyler Dibling who was brought in from Southampton to the Chelsea academy in a deal worth £1.5 million, dropped in a transfer request to return to former club a week after joining the Blues.

The 16 year old midfielder was on course for a Chelsea career beginning with the academy but made a surprising turn prior to the window shutting down.

On leaving Southampton to Chelsea, Dibling wrote on his social media profile:

“Just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff and players at Southampton for these last 10 years at the club.

“I’m forever grateful for the opportunities that have been handed to me and wish the club all the best. I’m excited to join Chelsea and can’t wait to get started.”

It is unclear why the player decided to return to his former club almost immediately after signing for Chelsea, although the Blues on their website described the player’s profile as “technical, silky midfielder who has been involved with England camps at Under-16 level.”

According to Adam Newson of Football London, he described the player as finding it difficult to settle at Chelsea, with the academy staff notified on Thursday.

This kind of move would probably have come in handy at one point for Alexis Sanchez after his move to Manchester United years back, considering reports of the player wanting a return to Arsenal upon landing at Old Trafford.
