Chelsea join race for Manchester United target

In the ongoing pursuit of bolstering their defensive lineup, Chelsea emerges as a prominent contender in the race to secure Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

Reports from Foot Mercato suggest that Chelsea has initiated talks with Todibo, exploring the prospect of acquiring the talented centre-back for Stamford Bridge.

The defensive dynamics at Chelsea, under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, have prompted a quest for reinforcements, with Todibo identified as a prime target.

The 24-year-old has garnered attention for his standout performances in the French Ligue 1, solidifying his position as one of the most promising young defenders in the league.

While Todibo’s potential move to the Premier League has been a subject of considerable speculation, Manchester United remains on high alert, having previously expressed interest in the French talent during last summer’s transfer window.

Their pursuit was stymied due to the inability to offload Harry Maguire, yet Todibo remains firmly on their radar, featuring prominently on their shortlist.

Simultaneously, Tottenham Hotspur, under the helm of manager Ange Postecoglou, has also entered discussions with Nice regarding the acquisition of Todibo.

The urgency arises from the injury setbacks plaguing their defensive roster, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven sidelined, creating a pressing need for a solid centre-back.
