Chelsea: "I don't think Osimhen is keen" -- Ex Liverpool star

The reported loan move of Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen to Chelsea from Napoli, has earned an eye roll from a few, and former Liverpool player, Steve Nicol is actively against it.

The former Liverpool defender voiced strong opposition to the idea of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen joining Chelsea on loan this summer. Speaking to ESPN FC, Nicol expressed disbelief at the rumored arrangement, where Osimhen would move to Stamford Bridge while Romelu Lukaku heads to Napoli on a permanent deal.

“I can’t wrap my head around this,” Nicol remarked, criticizing the logic behind the move. “Osimhen just signed a new deal with Napoli, and now he’s supposed to go on loan to Chelsea? It doesn’t add up, especially for a player of his caliber.”

Football insider Fabrizio Romano added fuel to the fire, noting that Osimhen’s camp, represented by agent Roberto Calenda, has denied the story. Romano also stated that Osimhen would only consider a loan move if it included a mandatory purchase clause.

Nicol warned of the risks involved in such a transfer: “Football is unpredictable. A loan move could go wrong with an injury or a dip in form, and suddenly, everything changes.”

Recent report so far, has now hinted at a move stalling for the Super Eagles striker, with Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku rumored to be linking up with Unai Emery at Aston Villa instead of a move to Napoli as speculated. This move could hinder whatever negotiations the West London side may have with Napoli who eye a Lukaku transfer to link up with former manager, Antonio Conte.
