Chelsea have no attacking threat—Alan Shearer

Newcastle United and Premier League legend, Alan Shearer is one to know a thing or two about attacking prowess, and for the Englishman, he sees no genuine attacking threat in Chelsea.

Shearer pointed this out while speaking about Chelsea’s hopes of challenging the big two in Manchester City and Liverpool for the league title this season.

For Alan Shearer, he considers the Blues will be needing like 3 or 4 reinforcements to come close to challenging for the league.

Chelsea recently signed defender, Marc Cucurella from Brighton after hijacking a deal Manchester City were interested in.

The Blues also saw to the signing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli while also adding in Camey Chukwuemeka form Aston Villa.

With main striker, Romelu Lukaku gone from the club back to Inter Milan on loan, Shearer identifies that no reinforcement has been brought in to replace the Belgian.

And for the former Newcastle man turned pundit, he believes that would greatly affect Chelsea in the long run if nothing is done to address it.

“Chelsea just don’t carry the same attacking threat. They were really disappointed in the league last year, as was their £97m striker Romelu Lukaku.

“Lukaku has left on loan now, and although Raheem Sterling is a good buy and Carney Chukwuemeka is an exciting prospect, I still think they are three or four signings away from challenging for the title again,” Shearer said.
