Chelsea Fans Throw Koulibaly Under The Bus After Man City loss

Flurry of transfer activity between Chelsea and Saudi clubs begins

Chelsea stretched their winless streak to three consecutive games under Graham Potter this season, after they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, and as expected, its fans didn’t take it lightly, particularly with one man; Kalidou Koulibaly.

It is one of those games whereby a player is singled out and blamed for the defeat, and with so much hope and expectation placed on new defender, Koulibaly, it is hardly any wonder to see why he becomes the scape goat.

Graham Potter’s team suffered back-to-back losses in all competitions as a result of Manchester City’s two goals early in the second half, which guaranteed their spot in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup draw.

The hosts took the lead in the 53rd minute with a beautiful free-kick from Riyad Mahrez, and Chelsea lost the match when Julian Alvarez doubled the advantage five minutes later.

Just before halftime, youthful left-back Lewis Hall of the London Blues should have given his team the lead, but City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega prevented him with a series of outstanding saves on Wednesday.

The visitors performed reasonably well in the first half, but as soon as City broke the tie in the second, their demise was assured.

Even without Manchester City’s prolific Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, the Blues, who are aiming to win the EFL Cup back next year, looked way below City’s level.

The social media reactions trail below as Kalidou Koulibaly becomes the fall guy for fan reactions.
