Chancelor Johnathan Bennett popularly known as Chance The Rapper, is among the artistes that have joined the #MuteRKelly Campaign.

The 25-year-old rapper and singer has taken down his song ‘Somewhere in Paradise’ after allegations against R. Kelly were brought to light in the new Lifetime documentary series ‘Surviving R. Kelly’, which Chance actually appears in.

Celine Dion and Chance The Rapper are the latest stars to distance themselves from R. Kelly, removing their work with the R&B singer from the internet.

The final episode of the series includes an interview with the ‘No Problem’ hitmaker in which the rapper states he made a “mistake” when he recorded the track with Kelly, and Chance also took to Twitter to apologise to fans.

He said: “I apologise to all of his survivors for working with him and for taking this long to speak out.”

Chance is not the only artist to pull their collaboration with Kelly, after Celine Dion was reported to have pulled her track ‘I’m Your Angel’ from her holiday album ‘These are Special Times’ in an attempt to distance herself from the singer.

A few of the many artists R.Kelly collaborated with over the course of his 30 years in the music industry are taking action to distance themselves from the R&B singer, following the January 2nd release of Lifetime’s docuseries Surviving R. Kelly.

The six-part, three-day documentary examines the sexual abuse allegations that have been levelled against Kelly for over two decades through interviews with the alleged victims of his physical, emotional and sexual abuse, as well as his peers, activists, and journalists, all of whom speak about the controversy surrounding the singer.

At the centre of the allegations is s sexually explicit 2002 video that appeared to show Kelly having sex with and urinating on a teenage girl. Kelly denied it was him in the video, and in 2008, he was acquitted of the only charges brought against him — multiple counts of child pornography charges.
