Champions League Quarter-Finals: The outcome

In an exciting round of fixtures, the quarter-finals of the Champions League have concluded, leaving fans on the edge of their seats as some of the world’s top football teams went head-to-head for a coveted spot in the semi-finals.

Chelsea faced off against Real Madrid, but the damage had already been done in the first leg when Chelsea conceded quickfire goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio. Although the West London side put up a valiant effort in the return leg, it was not enough to overcome the current champions, who secured an eventual 0-2 win at Stanford Bridge. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo emerged as the hero of the night, netting a brace.

Napoli, who had started the competition strongly, ultimately fell to seven-time champions AC Milan in a dragged-out 1-1 scoreline. Milan had the advantage of a 1-0 win in the first leg, but Napoli’s Victor Osimhen put up a strong performance, scoring the team’s only goal in the quarter-final.

On Wednesday night, Manchester City had a chance to secure a place in the semi-final against Real Madrid after overcoming Bayern Munich 1-1 on the night, with Erling Haaland netting the lone goal for City against Thomas Tuchel’s side. Tuchel, however, counted his loss after being sent to the stands for receiving double yellow cards on the touchline.

In another thrilling game, Inter Milan battled it out with Portuguese side Benfica. After dragging out what became an eventual 3-3 draw, Inter Milan eliminated Benfica, setting up a meeting with Milan rivals AC Milan in a highly-anticipated Milan derby.

Once again, the Champions League delivered on its promise of providing football fans with an exciting and exhilarating experience. The semi-finals are set to be even more thrilling, with some of the world’s top teams vying for the chance to compete for the coveted title of Champions of Europe.
