The French government apologised to Liverpool fans after the Stade de France incident on Saturday, May 29.

The chaos was reportedly born out of the inability of many to see the UEFA Champions League final.

The French authorities partly blamed the fans alleging that the fake tickets in circulation caused the situation.

UEFA insisted that the game, Real Madrid versus Liverpool game had been delayed by over 30 minutes due to fans arriving late.

However, after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, French government spokeswoman, Olivia Grégoire, reportedly said, “I apologise. Can we do things better? Yes.”

According to Grégoire, investigations are ongoing to forestall a repeat of such chaos at the 2024 Olympics.

Reports have it that Macron is angry with Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, for blaming Liverpool fans.
