Champions League final: Real Madrid does it again

Borussia Dortmund learnt nothing from Liverpool before playing Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Same old, same old — Real Madrid are Champions of Europe for the 15th time after beating Borussia Dortmund at the Wembley affair.

It is starting to look boring now for football lovers, watching Real Madrid in Champions League finals, time and again, doing the usual; winning.

The Wembley final had almost taken the unpredictable route when Borussia Dortmund started the first half on fine form with consecutive shots on goal against the Los Blancos in the first half. The BVB looked set to create some upset to nick big old ears away from the famous Spanish side when they started with fine dominance.

However, like every opponent, the La Liga champions have faced in recent Champions League finals or knockout stages, Borussia Dortmund failed to learn from their errors; not taking chances when they have them, and not being ruthless in defence or possession.

Real Madrid returned for the second half, with a very different face to the game.

The first half was only a trap to see what Dortmund had in their ‘arsenal’, and when the German side revealed a little too much, the Los Blancos knew what to do to counter them.

In the 74th minute, Toni Kroos inspired Real Madrid to the cusp of victory by setting up his last assist for the club to allow Dani Carvajal steal the opener. Former Borussia Dortmund star, Jude Bellingham showed little sentiments for his former side when he set his Madrid teammate, Vinicius Jr in the 83rd minute to take the tie out of Dortmund’s hands.

Football is a game of no sentiments, but Borussia Dortmund showed Real Madrid too much respect in front of goal to deny themselves a chance of tasting Champions League victory.
