“Certificate submitted by Tinubu is authentic” — CSU Confirms
Chicago State University (CSU) has officially confirmed the authenticity of the diploma certificate presented by President Bola Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The institution made this confirmation through an affidavit submitted to the court in Chicago.
In the affidavit, CSU unequivocally stated that both the diploma certificate and the certified true copy of the diploma presented by President Tinubu are valid and genuine.
The university affirmed,
“Chicago State University provided a Diploma to Bola Ahmed Tinubu and subsequently provided a certified copy of that Diploma. Both are valid and authentic Diplomas of the Chicago State University.”
CSU acknowledged that there are certain discrepancies between the diploma certificate and the certified true copy.
These differences primarily stem from variations in the signatures on diplomas, as they are signed by the current president or board chair.
Additionally, the font and seal on the diploma differ from those on the certified copy because the university had updated its font and seal after the original diploma was issued.
Regarding the disparities in graduation dates, CSU attributed them to human error. The institution clarified that the graduation date on the certified true copy is manually typed and may not always be accurate.
The affidavit also shed light on the fact that many higher education institutions in the United States consider the diploma to be a ceremonial document.
The affidavit, deposed by CSU’s Registrar, Caleb Westberg, emphasized that the university’s records corroborate the fact that Bola Ahmed Tinubu graduated from the institution and was conferred a degree, thereby affirming the validity of his educational credentials.
