Celebrities are why the Masses sell their Votes—Seun Kuti blasts
Seun Kuti blast celebrities as the reason poor masses sell their votes to politicians on the cheap during elections.
Talk about Nigerian politics or elections in Nigeria, and you certainly find yourself having quite a lot to talk about in that regard, because obviously, the Nigerian political scene is a movie theatre altogether.
There are a lot of stage performances, acts and theatrics as a lot of themes are portrayed on the grand stage for spectators to watch and draw out emotions.
For Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti, he believes part of the problem that the average Nigerian faces is due to celebrities doing nothing but contributing to the failures the electorate encounter during voting.
Seun Kuti blames entertainers for poor Nigerians having to sell their votes during elections because actors, professionals and music stars keep selling themselves at the cheap for politicians to use for their selfish gains.
The Afrobeat legend explains that many Nigerians look up to these stars as influence and to see them campaigning for politicians who have bought them for large sums, go a long way to dent their confidence in the polls.
Seun Kuti stated this in an Afrobeat Podcast with Adesope Olajide as he talks about the evil and hypocrisy government employees, attorneys, journalists and bankers who show support for corrupt politicians only to condemn the average bloke who sell their votes.
The topic comes in response to the allegations that celebrities are being bought out to endorse politicians ahead of the coming 2023 elections after it was claimed Nkem Owoh had rejected huge sums to endorse a presidential aspirant that sought his endorsement.
