Casemiro is not what Man United need—Ex-Chelsea striker
Man United this week made the move to sign sensational Real Madrid midfielder, Carlos Henrique Casemiro much to the fan base’s delight.
But for former Chelsea striker, Tony Cascarino, he doesn’t share those sentiments as he questions the signing of the 30 year old especially the £60m price tag.
The Blues legend compared Casemiro’s signing to that of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid a year ago, recalling he also made same prediction on the Frenchman.
The signing of Casemiro was announced on Friday night with the Old Trafford side announcing they had reached mutual agreement with the Real Madrid to bring the star to England.
The Brazilian as part of the formalities, did his medicals on Saturday at Man United in view of him being presented as new signing going into the Liverpool game on Monday night.
Cascarino speaking on talkSPORT, said:
“It’s a big fee for a holding midfielder that is neccessary at the football club.
“I said last year when they bought Varane that he’s not the player who won the Champions League, he’s not quite as good as that anymore.
“I wouldn’t say that about Casemiro now because I watched him last year and he still has a lot to offer, but I looked at Varane and thought he wasn’t the same player because he had a lot of injuries in his career.
“One thing that Casemiro does is pick up a lot of cards. He does a lot of fouls, but some Man United fans will think that they need someone to break up the play and to stop the opposition, but it’s a big price to pay.”
