Case Of Criminal found guilty of killing ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee in 1999 Resurfaces
An appellate court in Maryland has reinstated the conviction of Adnan Syed, who was found guilty of killing his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee in 1999 and whose case was made famous in the “Serial” podcast.
The court said that the lower court had violated the rights of the victim’s brother, Young Lee, to attend a key hearing.
The ruling means that a new hearing will take place to decide whether to vacate Syed’s conviction.
Lee family attorney David Sanford said they were “delighted” with the court’s decision. Syed’s attorney intends to seek review in Maryland’s highest court and continue fighting until the convictions are fully casted.
