Can’t wait to resume at my farm – Buhari says as he marks Birthday in Turkey [PHOTOS]

A year to the end of his second tenure, President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is looking forward to returning to his farm.

 

The President said this at a surprise party organised by the Nigerian embassy in Istanbul, Turkey, for his 79th birthday today December 17.

 

Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu said the Nigerian leader started off the day by cutting a birthday cake molded in national colours, green-white-green, while Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, rendered a tribute on behalf of the ministers and the rest of the delegation.

 

The President who reiterated that he would put in his best for Nigeria, added that he is looking forward to 2023 when he would return to his farm to tender crops and livestock.

 

He said;

 

“I thought that being away from Abuja I will escape these things. The Guards Brigade had written to tell me what they wanted to do on this day. Now here you are doing this far away from home.

“I look forward to the year 2023 when I finish, to go home to take charge of my farm. Between now and that time, I will do the best that is possible to advance the interest of the nation and its people, and carry out my duties as prescribed by the Constitution.”

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has wished the President Happy Birthday, wish heartfelt prayers.

In his words, “Happy Birthday Mr. President. As your days, so shall strength, wisdom and favor be from the Almighty God in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.”
