Burnley player laments being sold out by club

It probably will come as a strange one for a player if they were to find out on Twitter that their club had just sacked them, or preferably let them go after logging on to Twitter feeds.

For Dale Stephen, former Burnley player, it was just exactly that as he revealed he learnt he was no longer wanted by Burnley after logging on Twitter to see the news online.

The midfielder though revealed he knew something along those lines were panning out but found it quite disrespectful to say the least as the club didn’t reach out to inform him first.

The former England professional, now sees himself as a free agent following his release from the club after its relegation to the Championship.

Dale Stephen in his career has represented clubs like Oldham Athletic, Rochdale on loan, Southampton, Charlton Athletic, Brighton & Hove Albion, among others.

“It was disappointing on both sides, I didn’t really see it panning out the way that it did because when I initially went there I was excited for the challenge, but for whatever reason it didn’t work for me or the football club,” he had lamented on talkSport

“I sort of knew that I wouldn’t be there next year.

“It probably sums my time up there, but I found out on Twitter, of all places, that I wouldn’t be getting a new contract.

“It was bizarre really.”

With the Englishman now currently a free agent, it remains to be seen which club will go in for him in the Premier League or from other leagues, but one thing is for sure; he isn’t happy.
