Nigerian R&B singer, Nonso Amadi, has emphasized that his style of music sets him apart from industry-leading acts such as Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

During an episode of the Afrobeats Podcast hosted by Adesope Olajide, Nonso expressed his admiration for the Afrobeats stars but asserted that his unique kind of music cannot be replicated by any of them.

He advised young artists to avoid copying established acts and encouraged them to cultivate their own distinct musical style and personality.

Nonso said; “I am not making the same music as Burna Boy and Wizkid and others. I’m making music that I love. I’m inspired and influenced by them but there is only one Nonso Amadi.”

In other news, Twitter influencer Daniel Regha has sparked a debate by suggesting that Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy should not be placed in the same category as Olamide, Wizkid, and Davido.

Regha argued that Burna Boy is still considered an upcomer compared to the three aforementioned artists.

Speaking on Doyin’s Corner, hosted by Big Brother Naija star Doyin David, Regha pointed out that when Wizkid, Davido, and Olamide were dominating the music scene, Burna Boy was not yet a prominent figure.

He further highlighted Olamide’s numerous hit songs, stating that it is amusing when people mention Burna Boy’s name ahead of the YBNL founder.

Regha clarified that every musician in the industry has their own space, and while Burna Boy has achieved significant success, he should not be placed in the same category as Wizkid and Davido.

He attributed Burna Boy’s popularity to the streaming era, suggesting that if artists from the past had the advantage of streaming platforms, their songs would also have become hits.

Regha drew a comparison between Tubaba and Wizkid and Davido, indicating that they belong to different categories just as Burna Boy does.

He said; “Burna is still an upcomer compared to Wizkid, Davido and Olamide. When those artistes were popping, Burna was nowhere to be found…Burna is mostly popping now because he is in the streaming era.”
