"Burna Boy committed a crime" -- Brymo

Nigerian music artiste, Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, popularly known as Brymo, has taken to Instagram to accuse Nigerian Grammy-winning artist, Damini Ogulu, famously known as Burna Boy, of allegedly stealing his intellectual property.

The claims stem from Brymo’s assertion that two of Burna Boy’s songs, ‘City Boys’ and ‘I Told Them,’ have sampled his upcoming album’s title track, ‘Macabre.’

Brymo, who has announced that his album ‘Macabre’ is scheduled for release by the end of this year, made it clear that he believes Burna Boy’s use of the album title track as a sample constitutes a crime.

In his Instagram post, Brymo wrote,

“By the end of this year, y’all will recollect that ‘Macabre’ wasn’t released when in the public, and as privately as it gets… ‘City Boy’ and ‘I Told You’ were fed to Burna Boy.”

Furthermore, Brymo pointed out the striking similarity between the title of Burna Boy’s album and his own album title track.

He expressed his discontent with the situation, claiming,

“Burna na really boy… and that’s a crime… An actual crime… To do time for… and if una like make una resurrect legends to come complain about stolen songs… una go regret this shit to numerous degrees… shey una no dey hear word!!.”
