BUK drives students off hostels over ASUU Strike

Bayero University Kano and its management have ordered all students residing in the two campuses to vacate their hostels on or before Sunday, 20th March 2022, for their own security, TopNaija reports.

 

A press release by the University’s Registrar, made available on Friday, explained that the action by the management followed the extension of the ongoing warning strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of the University for another two months.

The release which was signed by Information and Publication Secretary, Bala Abdullahi, on behalf of the Registrar, notified students that the management would also from the said date, suspend the provision of all municipal services to the hostels.

According to the statement, the steps were adopted to “forestall any unforeseen act of criminality, as well as the attendant consequences.”

Abdullahi explained that the Management had also approved the suspension of the students’ on-campus job scheme until the resumption of full academic activities.

Bayero University has faculties for Allied Health Sciences, Agriculture, Arts and Islamic Studies, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Education, Engineering, Communications, Dentistry, Law, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Social, Management Science and the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology.
