Buhari to appoint Justice Ariwoola as acting CJN

President Buhari is reportedly planning to swear in Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the acting CJN today, Monday, June 27.

 

This is in motion following the resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad earlier today.

 

Justice Ariwoola happens to be the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court.

 

He will be sworn in at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.

 

According to reports, he will act as CJN until he is presented to the Senate by the President for confirmation as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

 

Justice Ariwoola was formerly a Justice of the Court of Appeal before his elevation to the Supreme Court bench in 2011.
