Buhari mourns Gen Wushishi

The President of Nigeria, Major. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as expressed sadness over the death of former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Inuwa Wushishi (rtd).

This was contained in a condolence statement released by Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu, on today.

Recall that the 81-year old gave up the ghost at a hospital in London while battling a protracted ailment.

Buhari described the death as the sad loss of “a thoroughbred professional soldier, an officer and a gentleman whose contributions to the fatherland are immeasurable.”

The President, Muhammadu Buhari  said: “Gen. Wushishi had a distinguished military career and we are proud of his impressive service to the country.

“Gen. Wushishi was an epitome of discipline and dedication to service, and he was a role model for both the officers and the rank and file.”

Buhari extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Nigerian Army, as well as the government and people of Niger State.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) is the highest ranking military officer of the Nigerian Army. The position is often occupied by the most senior commissioned officer appointed by the President of Nigeria.
