Buhari, Lawan, Fayemi, congratulate Akeredolu

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu after he was declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, TopNaija reports.

Buhari’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

The statement was titled “President Buhari congratulates Rotimi Akeredolu on re-election as Ondo governor”, Buhari urged Akeredolu to be humble and magnanimous in victory. The President also advised Akeredolu to serve the people of the state better than how he did in his first term.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for organizing a credible election. The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari rejoices with Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, on his re-election as Governor of Ondo State for another four-year term.

“The President lauds the resounding victory of the Governor at the election held on Saturday, October 10, 2020, noting that the votes garnered ‘show that one good turn surely deserves another.’

“He thanks the people of Ondo State for keeping faith with their Governor, and the All Progressives Congress, noting that ‘the people know the person and party that truly serves them, and have spoken in clear voice and unmistakable terms.’

“President Buhari appreciates the electorate in Ondo State for comporting themselves decently and in order, and for exhibiting conduct that indicates that the country is making progress in its electoral behaviour.

 

President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan also congratulated the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, on his re-election for a second term at Saturday’s election.

Lawan also congratulates the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the victory of its candidate at the election, saying the triumph was well-deserved and heartwarming. He notes that the election was a referendum on the stewardship of Gov. Akeredolu in the last four years and that the Governor had passed the examination in flying colours.

Lawan in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Ola Awoniyi, in Abuja on Sunday also commended the people of Ondo State for their peaceful conduct at the polls.

In the same vein, Kayode Fayemi, the Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of Nigeria Governor’s Forum, has congratulated Rotimi Akeredolu after he was declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo.

Fayemi, in a brief statement released on Sunday, described Akeredolu’s victory at the poll as a victory for the people of Ondo state.

“With God’s blessing, hard work, laser beam focus, proper planning, unity and sincerity of purpose, elections are always winnable. Congratulations, my brother. This is a victory for the people. A victory for democracy,” Fayemi wrote.

INEC declared Akeredolu winner of the election after defeating his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede.
