Brothers jailed for stealing ceiling fans from a mosque in Ogun State

Two brothers have been sentenced to imprisonment for stealing ceiling fans from a Mosque in Ogun State.

20-year-old Anu and his brother, 18-year-old Tayo Akinsanya have been sentenced to three months imprisonment each by an Ota Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 21 for stealing two ceiling fans said to be worth N44,000 from a Mosques in the state.

TopNaija reports that, Magistrate A . O. Adeyemi, sentenced the two brothers without an option of a fine.

Adeyemi said that the prosecution has proven its case beyond reasonable doubts that they were guilty of the charge leveled against them, theft, and burglary.


Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp E.O. Adaraloye disclosed to the court that the two convicts committed the criminal offense on March 17 at about 11.30 p.m. at Iwoye Town in Ota.

Adaraloye also confirmed that the convicts broke into the Iwoye Central Mosque and stole two ceiling fans worth N44, 000.

He said that the offense contravened the provisions of sections 390(9), 451, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
