BREAKING: Terrorists attack Katsina Community, Kill Twelve, Burn Farmlands

No fewer than twelve were reported to have been killed during the raid of armed men in Katsina community today, May 24.

According to reports, the terrorists, in the early hours of today, May 24, attacked Gakurdi village, in the Jibia Local Government Area of the State and began shooting randomly.

TopNaija understands that the assailants arrived in the community on motorcycles and burnt some farmlands belonging to local farmers, upon their arrival.

Confirming the attack, the Spokesman for the police command, SP Gambo Isah, in a statement obtained by journalists, said some villagers who attempted to escape into their farmlands were also killed by the terrorists.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Idris Dabban, led a team of security operatives including himself to the village for an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

He added that security operatives were already on top of the situation.

In his words, “The incident is true. The bandits were at the village this (Tuesday) morning and killed twelve villagers. Some of those killed included those attempting to escape to their farmlands. The Commissioner of Police had led a team of security operatives to the village this morning.”

Meanwhile, according to independent sources who spoke with The PUNCH, the terrorists riled up an unknown number of domestic animals from a neighboring Danye Gaba village before fleeing to the woods.
