Breaking: Rivers Assembly to screen 23 CTC Chairmen, members today
Under Rt Hon Victor Oko, the Rivers State House of Assembly has extended invitations to screen the Caretaker Committee, CTC, Chairmen, and members for the 23 local government areas of the state today.
TopNaija notes that the decision was taken. following the term of the elected chairman and councillors of the 23 LGAs in the state expired.
Following the end of the LGA’s mandate, Sminialayi Fubara, the governor of the state, on Tuesday, asked the Heads of Local Government Administration to take over the leadership of respective councils until further instructions.
The development set to a dilemma when the former chairmen said they would not be leaving their positions.
On Monday, however, a note signed by G.M. Gills-West, the clerk of the house, apparently asked 23 people to show themselves before the house for screening as CTC chairman.
The memo also asked seven members from each of the 23 LGAs to show before the house for screening as caretaker committee members.
The memo read: “The Rivers State House of Assembly hereby invites the following nominees for screening and confirmation as Chairmen and members of Caretaker Committees of the Twenty-Three (23) Local Government Areas of Rivers State, pursuant to Section 9(5) of the Rivers State Local Government Law, No.5 of 2018.
