Following the death of Mohbad, another renowned Nigerian musician and influential figure, John Oboh has passed on.
Known for being an influential figure in the Ajegunle music scene, John Oboh, affectionately known as Mighty Mouse, tragically passed away on Monday.
Ajegunle, a neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria, has been a breeding ground for many prominent Nigerian artists, including Daddy Showkey, Oritse Femi, and Danfo Drivers, among others.
Mighty Mouse, a legendary music producer, is widely credited with pioneering the distinctive Ajegunle rhythm that dominated the Nigerian music scene in the 1990s, captivating listeners on radio stations nationwide.
His untimely demise is attributed to a prolonged battle with a suspected cancer-related illness.
Recognized as the originator of the Galala music genre, which originated from Ajegunle, Mighty Mouse’s significant contributions to Nigerian music are irrefutable.
His passing was officially confirmed by a close family member, marking the end of an era in the vibrant music landscape of Ajegunle and Nigeria as a whole.
However an official confirmation has not been made by the sister, Mabel Oboh.
