BREAKING: Peter Obi quits PDP, to join Labour Party

Peter Obi, Nigerian politician, businessman, and presidential aspirant has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), TopNaija can confirm.

Obi, a former Anambra Governor, was until his resignation one of the 15 aspirants vying for the presidential ticket of the PDP.

The letter conveying his resignation from the party was submitted to the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.

Peter Obi is now nursing a strategic plan to join the Labour Party.

On 24 March 2022, Peter Obi declared his intention to run for the position of President of Nigeria on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Obi, who was the vice presidential candidate in the 2019 Nigerian general election under the People’s Democratic Party, was the former governor of Anambra State serving from 17 March 2006 to 2 November 2006, when he was impeached and from 9 February 2007 to 29 May 2007 after his impeachment was overturned.
