Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly arrested Rochas Okorocha, the immediate past governor of Imo state.

The anti-graft agency stormed Ogboko, and apprehended Okorocha, Nkechi Okorocha, his wife, alongside Gerald Okorocha and Okey Okorocha.

It is understood that the EFCC also sealed Eastern Palm University (EPU) in Ogboko, which was founded by the former Imo governor.

Okorocha’s purported arrest is coming barely a day after he handed the mantle of leadership of Imo to Emeka Ihedioha.

He had earlier claimed that the anti-graft agency was being used by the All Progressives Congress (APC), his party, to hound him due to his rift with Adams Oshiomhole, its national chairman.

“One of the things EFCC is investigating is N500million …that has made them close down the account of Imo state for the past three months and no activity is going on in the state and I think that is not good to a state that has performed and upgraded the name of APC,” Okorocha had said.

“Since I became governor, I have not had one minute of my life; I have worked for this government but what I got at the end of it all was the seizure of my certificate, and the harassment of the EFCC. This does not give me joy but makes me wonder if it is worth taking the pains for APC.”
