BREAKING: Ogun Deputy Speaker of Assembly, Kadiri, impeached Top Naija

Ogun State House of Assembly, on Thursday, has impeached its Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludare Kadiri over misuse of power and gross misconduct.

The previous deputy speaker was impeached during plenary meeting held at the Assembly complex, in Okemosan, Abeokuta, after the committee charged with investigating gross misconduct labeled against the Deputy Speaker presented its report.

In the meantime, in a quick response, the previous deputy speaker has depicted the alleged impeachment as totally unlawful and illicit.

Kadiri said, “I just received the news of my purported impeachment based on the report of an ad-hoc committee set up by the Ogun State House of Assembly. The development, to say the least, was grossly unconstitutional and illegal.

“However, I have initiated consultation with my lawyers to fashion out the best possible way to address this infraction.

“I urge my teeming supporters, constituents and members of my political party in Ijebu North II State Constituency to remain calm as the issues that threw up this unwarranted action are sorted.

“In whatever capacity I find myself now or in the future, I remain committed to the ideals of a functional legislature, tenets of democracy and good governance.”

Oludare Oluwatimileyin Kadiri is the member representing Ijebu North II State Constituency which covers Ago-Iwoye, Oru, Awa, Mama, Ilaporu, Ako and others.

He obtained Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute, London.

Kadiri received award for the best lawmaker of the year 2018 from PRESTIGE on 28th October, 2018.

He is happily married with children.

The Ogun State House of Assembly is the legislative branch of the Ogun State Government, Nigeria, inaugurated on February 3, 1979.

The assembly is a single chamber with 26 representatives elected from each constituency of the 20 local government area of the state.

Presently, the Assembly comprises seventeen members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and nine members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The incumbent Speaker is Olakunle Oluomo.  He was re-elected on June 10, 2019.
