Kim Kardashian divorces Kanye West topnaija.ng

American media personality, socialite, model and reality TV star Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from rapper Kanye West after almost seven years of marriage, US media reported Friday.

Kardashian’s lawyer Laura Wasser filed papers confirming a split first rumored back in January, when the mega-celebrity couple was reported to be living separately, Fox News said.

Hollywood trade publication Variety cited court sources confirming the filing Friday, while celebrity gossip site TMZ — which broke the news — said the separation was “as amicable as a divorce can be.”

Based on our findings, the reality star, 40, has requested joint legal and physical custody of their children, though neither has publicly commented.

The news comes after a source told E! News their relationship had effectively reached its breaking point following months of private turmoil.

“It’s gotten to the point where they haven’t spent time together as a married couple in months,” an insider shared with E! News. “They’ve seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She’s known for a while.”

The couple, who both went public with their relationship in April 2012, got married in May 2014. They share four children together, North West, 7, Saint West, 5, Chicago West, 3, and Psalm West, 20 months.

The couple are among the most recognisable stars in the world and are both hugely successful in their own right.

Kim first found fame in 2007 as the star of an E! Television reality series about her family. Keeping up with the Kardashians has remained hugely popular since, with its 21st and final series due to air next year.

This will be Kim’s third divorce. She was married to music producer Damon Thomas before they divorced in 2004. She married Humphries in August 2011 but she filed for divorce after 72 days. This is Kanye’s first divorce.
