BREAKING: Coronavirus kills 36-year-old in Lagos as toll hits 224
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed one death from complications of COVID-19 and 10 new cases, in their latest tweet on Sunday morning.
Ten new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 6 in Lagos, 2 in FCT and 2 in Edo.

Of the figure, six were confirmed in Lagos, while the federal capital territory and Edo recorded two cases each.
As of 11:30 am on April 5, 2020, Nigeria had recorded 224 cases of coronavirus infections.
“Ten new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 6 in Lagos, 2 in FCT and 2 in Edo. As at 11:15 am 5th April there are 224 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Twenty-seven have been discharged with five deaths,” the tweet read.
Lagos Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi also confirmed that a 36-year-old man died of coronavirus in the state.
He tweeted, “We lost a COVID-19 patient – a 36-year-old Nigerian male who died in a private facility on the 4th of April, 2020. (The) total number of #COVID-19 patients who have died are now two.
“A case was evacuated bringing total evacuated to two. Six new cases of #COVID-19 confirmed, bringing total confirmed cases to 115. A #COVID-19 patient was discharged on the 4th of April, 2020. The number of #COVID-19 patients, who have fully recovered and discharged is now 24.”
