BREAKING: Alex Iwobi tests negative for COVID-19

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed that Super Eagles player, Alex Iwobi, has tested negative for COVID-19.

The NFF, on Tuesday, declared this in a tweet. “Update: @NGSuperEagles forward, @alexiwobi has tested negative after further COVID-19 tests were conducted,” the tweet read.

Everton star, Alex Iwobi will be available for selection by the Super Eagles against Lesotho on Tuesday (today) after a second COVID-19 test returned negative, officials announced.

“Iwobi’s further Covid-19 tests have returned negative,” declared Super Eagles spokesman Babafemi Raji.

Alex Iwobi missed the 2021 AFCON qualifier in Benin after he was declared to have tested positive of the coronavirus.

He left the Eagles training camp on return from Benin, but Gernot Rohr had affirmed the test result in Benin was “fake”.

Iwobi will currently be expected to begin ahead of Henry Onyekuru on the left side of attack.
