Brazil supreme court bans Telegram for ignoring country’s laws

A Supreme Court judge in Brazil, Alexandre de Moraes, has barred the use of Telegram app for non compliance with the country’s laws.

The judge made the ruling ordered the app blocked immediately in Brazil, in a ruling dated Thursday and published Friday on the high court’s website.

Friday to cut off far-right President Jair Bolsonaro’s favorite communication channel.

The ruling represents the latest chapter in the crusading justice’s against far-right President Jair Bolsonaro and his allies who have relied more on Telegram as a form of mass communication as Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp and Google have been forced by the Supreme Court to drop offending accounts over the spread of fake news.

Moraes also ordered Apple and Google to help block users on their platforms from being able to use Telegram in Brazil.
