A 33-year-old man from Plumtree, named Bhekimpilo Moyo, faces legal trouble after being accused of pressuring his girlfriend to terminate an unexpected pregnancy, which allegedly led to a violent confrontation.
Moyo’s case recently reached the Plumtree Magistrates Court, where Magistrate Joshua Nembaware issued a warrant for his arrest when he failed to show up for his scheduled hearing on Friday, October 25.
Court documents outline that the incident began on August 26, when Moyo visited his girlfriend at her home and, upon learning she was pregnant, demanded that she terminate the pregnancy. When she refused, Moyo allegedly responded by pulling out a knife and threatening her life. Fortunately, she escaped unharmed by seeking refuge at a neighbor’s house.
The following day, Moyo reportedly returned to her home, this time throwing soil into her room and forcing his way inside to take her phone. These actions have since added further charges to the case.
Led by prosecutor Selestine Madziwa, the prosecution emphasized the gravity of Moyo’s behavior and the fear and distress it caused for the victim. Authorities are now actively searching for Moyo, who remains at large, while his girlfriend remains concerned for her safety as the case continues to develop.
