Nigerian stand-up comedian Bovi Ugboma has faced criticism from a fan on social media who expressed disappointment at the recent breakup of another comedian, Basketmouth, and his wife.

In response, the fan tweeted that they were looking up to Bovi’s marriage, along with those of Ayo Makun and Obi Cubana, as successful relationships.

In a mix of English and Pidgin English, the fan wrote, “Since Basketmouth don break my heart, I am left with Bovi, AY and Obi Cubana to look up too. May God bless our marriages. Amen.” Bovi responded to the fan by telling them to “go look your papa’s marriage.”

On Thursday, Basketmouth announced on social media that he and his wife had ended their marriage after 12 years together. In a statement, he wrote, “As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation. After much deliberations, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage. As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance and support they need. We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. Thank you.”

Breakups and divorces can be difficult and emotional experiences, and it’s understandable that fans may feel disappointed or concerned when their favorite celebrities go through these experiences.

However, it’s important to remember that celebrities are people too, and they have a right to privacy and respect in their personal lives. It’s not productive or respectful to criticize or speculate about the details of someone’s relationship or to compare it to others.

It’s also important to recognize that every relationship is different and has its own challenges and dynamics, and it’s not fair to judge or make assumptions about the strength or success of a relationship based on limited information.
