Boko Haram attack Customs House in Yobe

A Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) officer, identified as Usman Gombe, was tragically killed during an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Geidam town, Geidam Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State.

The insurgents targeted the Customs house along Maine Soroa road, arriving in a Volkswagen Golf and a Land Rover at around 10 p.m. on Saturday. They initiated the attack by opening fire.

In the face of the gunfire, the customs officers took shelter, with some escaping through the gate and others attempting to scale the fence. Regrettably, Officer Usman Gombe lost his life while trying to climb the fence.

Furthermore, the assailants set fire to the customs patrol van, a generator, and a portion of the customs house building during the attack.

This incident marks the second time that Boko Haram insurgents have targeted customs officers in the region. In the previous month, Officer Babalola and his junior officer were abducted and subsequently killed by the insurgents.
